Softball Game Preview: Proctor Phantoms vs. Poultney Blue Devils

Proctor has gone 9-1 against Poultney recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Phantoms will be playing in front of their home fans against the Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Poultney will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Proctor extended their winning streak to five on Wednesday. The Phantoms put the hurt on White River Valley with a sharp 13-1 victory.

Olivia Graham made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

In other batting news, Dylan Collins was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Jada Hughes was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

Proctor kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Poultney). They were the clear victors by a 25-3 margin over Arlington Memorial on Tuesday. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Proctor's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Poultney, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.

Proctor got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 against Poultney by a conclusive 9-1 score. Will the Phantoms repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
