Basketball Recap: West Central Skates Past Knox with Ease

There's no place like home for West Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They really took it to the Knox Redskins for the full four quarters, racking up an 82-50 win. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 22 points or more this season.

West Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brendan Grindstaff, who went 9 of 17 on his way to 23 points and six rebounds. That's the most points Grindstaff has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bryce Nannenga, who went 6 for 9 en route to 20 points and eight boards.

West Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Knox's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Myles Mclaughlin, who went 9 of 16 on his way to 22 points, and Kohl Jordan, who posted 16 points. The contest was Mclaughlin's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Cain Weber was another key player, putting up four points and six rebounds.

West Central's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Knox, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-12.

West Central will challenge Frontier at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. West Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.5 points per game this season. As for Knox, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Trinity Greenlawn at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
