Basketball Recap: Rank Disadvantage No Problem for Saint Ignatius College Prep

Saint Ignatius College Prep proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 27) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 62-59 victory over the Brother Rice Crusaders. The win was all the more spectacular given the Wolfpack's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while the Crusaders are ranked second).

Saint Ignatius College Prep's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 16-3. As for Brother Rice, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 17-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Saint Ignatius College Prep has already played their next match (against Providence Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Brother Rice is taking a road trip to take on Marist at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marist will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Brother Rice surely won't give up without a fight.
