Football Recap: Russell Starts Season with Victory at Home

Russell took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They walked away with a 20-8 victory over the Dawson-Bryant Hornets. Given the Red Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 95th in Kentucky, while the Hornets are ranked 325th in Ohio) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Russell's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jayden Frasure, who threw for 174 yards and two touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes, and also rushed for 55 yards. The dominant performance also gave Frasure a new career-high in passer rating (147.7). Another back making a difference was Jordan Rowe, who rushed for 87 yards and one score.

Looking ahead, Russell will head out to face off against Greenup County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Dawson-Bryant, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Adena at 7:00 p.m.
