Baseball Recap: Mingo Central Takes a Loss

Mingo Central lost against Pike County Central two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Mingo Central came up short against Pike County Central, falling 15-5. The defeat leaves the Miners still looking for their first win of the season.

Keziah Joplin was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Corey Mahon also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Even though they lost, Mingo Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Mingo Central's record is now 0-7. As for Pike County Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mingo Central will square off against Belfry at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mingo Central's pitchers better be ready for this one: Belfry has averaged an impressive 11.1 runs per game this season. As for Pike County Central, they will challenge Harlan County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
