Volleyball Recap: Highland Cardinals vs. Dodgeville Dodgers
After flying high against Benton last Thursday, Highland came back down to earth. The Highland Cardinals fell just short of the Dodgeville Dodgers by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. The Cardinals' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Highland started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 24-26, 25-18, 15-13.
Despite the defeat, Highland had strong showings from Brinleigh Bollant, who had 11 digs and two aces, and Sumaryn Halverson, who had. Bollant is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in the last three games she's played dating back to last season.
Even though they lost, Highland kept the net locked down and finished the game with ten blocks. That's the most blocks they've posted since back in September.
Highland's loss dropped their record down to 16-3. As for Dodgeville, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.
Highland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 2-1 defeat against West Salem on the 5th. Dodgeville has also already played their next matchup, a 2-1 loss against Onalaska on the 5th.
