Baseball Recap: North Rowan Sets Scoring Season-High Against Lexington

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Rowan). They came out on top against the Lexington Yellowjackets by a score of 17-12 on Thursday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Cavaliers as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak.

Chase Cauble and Caleb Everett made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Cauble struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and seven unearned) runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Everett pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the most strikeouts Cauble has posted since back in March. At bat, Cauble got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs, while Everett went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Cauble has become a key player for North Rowan: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-10 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zane Smith, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of North Rowan's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 1-10 when he doesn't). Jayden Parnell also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

North Rowan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

North Rowan's record now sits at 4-11. As for Lexington, they dropped their record down to 2-14 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.
