Volleyball Recap: Benton Zephyrs vs. Highland Cardinals

Benton extended their losing streak to eight on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-12. They lost 3-0 to the Highland Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on September 2nd.

Addalee Lawrence paced Benton's offense, picking up nine kills. Lawrence got some help from Madeline Davis and her nine assists. Finally, Ries Stluka and River Curtis kept the team grounded on defense, each having blocked two attacks.

As for Highland, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. They not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since September 11th (when they won 3-0).

Leading Highland to victory were SUMARYN HALVERSON and SOPHIE TARRELL. HALVERSON had 15 assists and five digs, while TARRELL had five digs, two aces, and one block.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Benton will square off against rival Cassville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Highland is set to challenge their familiar foe Belmont at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
