Preview: Langley Saxons vs. Yorktown Patriots
Langley is 2-8 against Yorktown since September of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Langley Saxons will head out on the road to face off against the Yorktown Patriots at 7:00 p.m. Langley is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
A well-balanced attack led Langley over Wakefield in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Langley blew Wakefield out of the water with a 48-9 final score. Given Langley's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 101st, while Wakefield is ranked 277th), the result wasn't exactly an upset.
Among those leading the charge was Robert Roncskevitz, who rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Roncskevitz was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 53 yards. Team Statistic made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Meanwhile, Yorktown was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 7-3 to McLean.
Langley's victory lifted them to 5-2 while Yorktown's loss dropped them down to 4-3.
Langley came up short against Yorktown in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, falling 21-14. Can Langley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
