Sumrall had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.9 runs) and they went ahead and made it ten on Thursday. Sumrall's win was  their sixth straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 25-5. The  home  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Raymond, their defeat  ended  a  four-game streak of away wins  and  brought them to 12-5.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Sumrall beat the Rangers by a score of  13-0 later that day.
