Basketball Recap: Crown Point Comes Up Short

Crown Point has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost 64-40 to the Portage Indians on Thursday. The match marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Michael Wellman was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 8 on his way to 21 points for Portage. What's more, Wellman also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Sam Wellman was another key player, putting up 11 points and seven rebounds.

Crown Point's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 13-2. As for Portage, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-4.

Crown Point is taking a road trip to square off against Andrean at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Portage, they will be playing at home against South Bend Adams at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Portage is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.9 points per game this season.
