Basketball Recap: Providence Catholic Takes a Loss

Providence Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 44th straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 47-34 to the St. Joseph Flyers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Provets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 67-31 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Providence Catholic saw an underclassman step up: freshman Sophia Navarijo posted 19 points and five rebounds. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for Navarijo.

Providence Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 0-27. As for St. Joseph, they moved to 12-12 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Providence Catholic will head out to take on Saint Mary's Hall at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Joseph has already played their next contest (against St. Anthony), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
