Baseball Game Preview: Chatham Panthers vs. Albany Falcons

The Chatham Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Albany Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Chatham's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Chatham and Greenville, and Chatham kept the tradition alive. The Panthers put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 11-1 victory on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won nine in a row.

Chatham got a massive performance out of Hunter Kelly, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Kelly has posted since back in April of 2024. Thomas Pierro was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Albany was a bit more limited in their game on Monday. They lost 9-2 to Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk. The loss continues a trend for the Falcons in their meetings with the Indians: they've now lost three in a row.

Gavin Cramer was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one double.

Chatham pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Albany, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
