Basketball Recap: Thatcher Has No Trouble Against Willcox

Thatcher won the last time they faced Willcox and things went their way on Friday too. The Thatcher Eagles put the hurt on the Willcox Cowboys with a sharp 67-45 win. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 22 points or more this season.

Thatcher found their leader in sophomore Wade Hull, who went 6 of 8 from beyond the arc on his way to 24 points. Those 24 points set a new season-high mark for Hull. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Palmer, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 13 points.

Willcox's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ty Shull, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 15 points and three steals. Those 15 points gave Shull a new career-high. JD Whetten was another key player, going 5 of 8 on his way to 14 points.

Thatcher is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Willcox, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.

Thatcher wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 61-49 defeat against Marana on the 4th. As for Willcox, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 49-46 loss against Benson on the 7th.
