Basketball Recap: Sandy Valley Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Sandy Valley and Union Local squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Sandy Valley had to settle for second. They fell 67-55 to the Union Local Jets. The Cardinals just can't catch a break and have now endured six defeats in a row.

Dre Saunders was his usual excellent self, to rack up 23 points for Union Local. Saunders has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Logan Hess, who posted 11 points.

Sandy Valley's loss dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Union Local, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Sandy Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Union Local, they will host Martins Ferry at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Union Local knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Martins Ferry likes a good challenge.
