Baseball Recap: Harker Beats Gunderson for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Harker extended their winning streak to four on Monday, bumping their season record up to 12-8 in the process. They never let the Gunderson Grizzlies get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. The Eagles' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three matchups.

Shaurya Jain made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Harker is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 6-8 otherwise. Jain was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Mason Brooks was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Harker's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-8 when he doesn't). Aarav Borthakur also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

As for Gunderson, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-12. They have struggled against Harker recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

On Gunderson's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was JD Murillo, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Harker will face off against Crystal Springs Uplands at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Gryphons' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Gunderson, they will take on Independence at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Grizzlies are facing the 76ers at the right time seeing as the 76ers are stuck on a 20-game losing streak.
