Softball Recap: Pleasant Extends Winning Streak to Two

Pleasant won against Marion Harding on Friday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Spartans beat the Kenton Wildcats by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 9-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

Peyton Simpkins and Faith Staley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Simpkins tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Meanwhile, Staley struck out 11 batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 19 consecutive appearances. At the plate, Simpkins went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run, while Staley went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits Simpkins has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Carly Davis was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Hohler, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Pleasant was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They are 6-3 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Pleasant's record now sits at 7-15. As for Kenton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Pleasant will venture away from home to take on Benjamin Logan at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Kenton, they will welcome Wapakoneta at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
