Baseball Recap: Danbury Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Calvert, Danbury was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Northwood Rangers a 10-0 shutout. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Lakers considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Dylan Kenley was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Danny Carroll, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Danbury: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-5 otherwise. Zyler Manning was another key player, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Danbury hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northwood struck out 11 times.

Danbury's record is now 5-6. As for Northwood, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Danbury will head out to challenge Gibsonburg at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Northwood, they will venture away from home to square off against Emmanuel Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
