Baseball Game Preview: Hughes BIG RED vs. Reading Blue Devils

The Hughes BIG RED are taking a road trip to challenge the Reading Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hughes is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

On Monday, Hughes didn't have quite enough to beat Mt. Healthy and fell 2-1.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Reading ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past Finneytown 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Blue Devils have posted since May 7, 2025.

Reading's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Hirt, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base.

Hughes' defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Reading, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8.
