The Bear River Bruins will face off against the Oakmont Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bear River will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Bear River gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Colfax by a score of 9-6. The Bruins haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Ana Marin Hemings made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taryn Cleek, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases. Macy Martin was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Bear River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Oakmont earned an 8-5 victory over Rosemont on Tuesday.
Like Bear River, Oakmont also got a great game from a two-way player: Chloe Gomes. On the mound, she pitched 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. That's the fewest earned runs Gomes has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Maria Gonzales was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Gonzales is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Sydney Creel, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Oakmont pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bear River, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bear River hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. However, it's not like Oakmont struggles in that department as they've averaged .401. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
