Basketball Recap: Sutton Comes Up Short

Sutton was the 45-42 winner over Sandy Creek when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Sutton Mustangs fell 50-43 to the Sandy Creek Cougars on Tuesday.

Sandy Creek can attribute much of their success to Ryleigh Skalka, who went 7-for-14 on her way to 21 points and six rebounds. The contest was Skalka's fourth in a row with at least 15 points. Emma Fisher was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards.

Sutton's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 18-7. As for Sandy Creek, their win bumped their record up to 14-9.

Sutton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sandy Creek, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 39-26 loss against Cross County on the 20th.
