Basketball Recap: Pungo Christian Academy Raiders vs. New Bern Christian Academy
Make it 12 blowout wins for the Pungo Christian Academy Raiders this season. They blew past New Bern Christian Academy 59-23 at home on Friday. The victory was nothing new for Pungo Christian Academy as they're now sitting on seven straight.
Pungo Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Quay Artis led the charge by scoring 12 points along with seven assists and two steals. Artis has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Maddox Lee, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.
Despite the loss, New Bern Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from KC Peter, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Peter hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, New Bern Christian Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Pungo Christian Academy racked up 19 assists.
Pungo Christian Academy pushed their record up to 17-2 with that victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 34.4 points. As for New Bern Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.
Pungo Christian Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against the Colts at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Albemarle School comes in still looking for their first win of the season. New Bern Christian Academy will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against the Heat at 8:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Liberty Christian Academy is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
