Meanwhile, Gonzales earned a 9-6 win over La Vernia on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Apaches in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won three in a row.

Gonzales' win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for John F. Kennedy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
