Deckerville faced Capac in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Eagles took a 28-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chiefs. The loss was the Eagles' first of the season.

When it comes to explaining why Deckerville lost, don't look at Brandon Salowitz. Despite the final result, he rushed for 227 yards and three scores, and also picked up 35 receiving yards. Salowitz was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Deckerville fell to 7-1. As for Capac, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2.
