Softball Game Preview: Chopticon Braves vs. Great Mills Hornets

Chopticon is a perfect 10-0 against Great Mills since June of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Braves will host the Hornets at 4:30 p.m. The last three games Chopticon has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Three must be Chopticon's lucky number: they beat Northern with that score not once but twice on Monday. The Braves beat the Patriots by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 3-1. The win continues a trend for the Braves in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won nine in a row.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Great Mills had no problem doing just that on Monday. They came out on top against the Clippers by a score of 6-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hornets.

Kendall Cooper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on ten hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Olivia Quinn was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Vanessa Chamberlin was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Great Mills' victory bumped their record up to 7-15. As for Chopticon, their win bumped their record up to 18-2.

Everything went Chopticon's way against Great Mills in their previous meeting last Monday, as Chopticon made off with a 15-3 victory. Will the Braves repeat their success, or do the Hornets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
