Basketball Recap: Pioneer Beats Mcallen for Their 12th Straight Win

Pioneer had already won 11 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points) and they went ahead and made it 12 on Monday. They blew past the McAllen Bulldogs 48-24. The Diamondbacks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Pioneer was led to victory by Ebonie Chatman and Anika Fleischmann. Chatman shot 4-for-6 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards, while Fleischmann dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds. Fleischmann is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 20 games she's played. Kassandra Garcia was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to seven assists and five boards.

Pioneer was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McAllen only racked up five assists.

Despite the loss, McAllen still got an impressive performance from Miller Richey, who posted eight points and seven rebounds.

Pioneer has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 23-9 record this season. As for McAllen, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-14.

Pioneer will look to defend their home court on Friday against Sharyland at 6:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Pioneer's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Sharyland has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. As for McAllen, they will venture away from home to face off against Vela at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
