Recap: Fletcher Senators vs. Stanton Blue Devils
In what's become a running theme this season, the Fletcher Senators gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They blew past Stanton 44-24. The score was close at the half, but Fletcher pulled away in the second half with 28 points.
Among those leading the charge was Mikiah Sloan, who scored 16 points. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Reagan Slaveski was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
When it comes to explaining why Stanton lost, one person who can't be blamed is Gabrielle Fajardo. Despite the final result, she scored ten points. That was a full 41.7% of Stanton's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Catherine Brewer, who scored eight points.
Fletcher is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Stanton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.
Fletcher will head out on the road to take on Ribault at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Ribault presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Fletcher in Florida (Ribault is ranked 51st, while Fletcher is ranked 241st). As for Stanton, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against KIPP Bold City at 7:00 p.m. KIPP Bold City comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
