Baseball Recap: South Central Comes Up Short

South Central had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 1-5 to make it four. They came up short against the Morgan Township Cherokees, falling 17-5. Satellites fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Cherokees since on Friday.

Jackson Spears was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

As for Morgan Township, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-5-1. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

On Morgan Township's side, Carter Thibodeau made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Thibodeau was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Morgan Township got a massive performance out of Bradley Farris, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances. Those three RBI gave Farris a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cal Lemmons, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.

South Central wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 19-0 loss against New Prairie on the 19th. As for Morgan Township, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 18-8 defeat against Guerin Catholic on the 19th.
