Basketball Game Preview: Severn Run Wolves vs. Meade Mustangs

Severn Run is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Meade is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. Having just played yesterday, the Severn Run Wolves will get right back to it and host the Meade Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Severn Run is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53 points per game this season.

On Wednesday, Severn Run lost to Broadneck on the road by a 66-52 margin.

Loss or not, Severn Run got some senior leadership from Darrelle Adofo and Jayden Gonzalez. Adofo went 5-for-11 on his way to 12 points and eight assists, while Gonzalez posted nine points and six boards. Those eight assists gave Adofo a new career-high. Xander Johnson was another key player, putting up nine points.

Even though they lost, Severn Run was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. This was only their 12th loss (out of 16 games) when they've passed the ball that well.

Meanwhile, Meade posted their closest win since December 22, 2023 on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Old Mill out 68-65.

Meade found their leader in sophomore Keon Scott, who scored 24 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Turman, who had 13 points.

Severn Run has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which is still a better percentage than their 5-16 record this season. As for Meade, their victory bumped their record up to 18-3.
