Baseball Recap: Advance Starts off Right with Win over Risco

Advance took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. Everything went their way against the Risco Tigers as Advance made off with a 12-6 victory. This was payback for the Hornets, who suffered an 8-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Kadon Rodgers made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Rodgers was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Rodgers wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Henson, who scored a run while going 3-for-5. Another was Jameson Hamlin, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Risco's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. We've got a battle between Hornets coming up. As for Risco, they will take on Bloomfield at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
