Basketball Recap: Maple Valley Takes a Loss

Maple Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They fell 55-46 to the Union City Chargers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chargers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 52-26 two weeks ago.

Despite the loss, Maple Valley still got an impressive performance from Ines Sanchez Feito, who dropped a double-double with 26 points and ten rebounds. Those 26 points gave Sanchez Feito a new career-high. Abbigail Harvey was another key player, putting up six points and five boards.

Union City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ellie Williams, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nala Payne, who posted ten points in addition to six assists and five boards.

Maple Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Union City, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-14.

Maple Valley and Union City could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. Maple Valley will square off against Bronson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday down 568 places (635 vs. 67). Meanwhile, Union City (ranked 500th) will meet Concord (ranked 105th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
