Caldwell County had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They walked away with a 74-66 win over the Dawson Springs Panthers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 70-64 last Friday.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Montgomery Johnston, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards. The match was Johnston's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Easton Bourland was another key player, going 6 of 9 on his way to 17 points and five rebounds.

Caldwell County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Dawson Springs, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-7.

Caldwell County will host Hopkins County Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. As for Dawson Springs, they will head out to face off against Madisonville-North Hopkins at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dawson Springs knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Madisonville-North Hopkins likes a good challenge.
