Montgomery's game  last Tuesday was a  loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them  on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Clear Lake Falcons  an   8-0 shutout. That eight run margin sets a new team best for the Bears this season.
 Logan Tucker and  Brayden Nichols dominated on the mound. Tucker  pitched two innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit, while  Nichols  tossed three innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit.
 On the hitting side,  the team  relied heavily on  Chase Hiatt, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while  getting on base  in all four of his plate appearances.  Karson Nelson was another key player,  going 1-for-3 with one  stolen base and two  RBI.
Montgomery has  been performing  well recently as they've  won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3-1 record  this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 7.2 runs over those games. Clear Lake's loss dropped their record down to 7-5-2.
 Coming up, Montgomery will be taking part in a tournament against Tompkins  at 3:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Tompkins' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1  runs per game  this season, so Montgomery's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Clear Lake, they will head out to  face off against Tomball Memorial  at 12:30  p.m.  on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few  runs on average, (Clear Lake: 3.3, Tomball Memorial: 3.4) so any  runs scored will be well earned.
