Basketball Game Preview: Lighthouse Christian Lions vs. RePublic

The Lighthouse Christian Lions will take on RePublic in a tournament on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, Lighthouse Christian came up short against Lancaster Christian Academy and fell 66-59. The loss continues a trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Knights: they've now lost three in a row.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Lucas Haymer, who posted 12 points. Jayden Buggs was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Meanwhile, RePublic scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 68-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of LEAD Academy.

Like Lighthouse Christian, RePublic lost despite seeing results from several players. Gracien Niyonzima led the charge by shooting 62% from the field en route to 17 points. Thanks to that strong game, Niyonzima now owns an excellent 55% shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of Carmontez Williams, who put up 14 points.

Lighthouse Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for RePublic, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Lighthouse Christian and RePublic were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but Lighthouse Christian came up empty-handed after a 1-0 defeat. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
