The Indian Creek Timberwolves will square off against the Newark Norsemen at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Indian Creek is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.3 points per game this season.
Indian Creek will head into Tuesday's match having proved themselves against Earlville: Indian Creek took a 25-point loss the last time they faced off against Earlville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Indian Creek came out on top in a nail-biter against Earlville on Tuesday, sneaking past 33-30. The 33-point effort marked the Timberwolves' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Everett Willis and Isaac Willis were among the main playmakers for Indian Creek as the former almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds and the latter posted seven points and six boards.
Indian Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Earlville only pulled down five offensive boards.
Meanwhile, Newark posted their biggest win since January 14th on Tuesday. They blew past LaMoille 63-36.
Indian Creek better keep an eye on Payton Wills. He was instrumental in Newark's win, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. That's the most boards Wills has posted since back in December of 2023. Cody Kulbartz was another key player, putting up six points along with 13 rebounds and five blocks.
The victory was the third in a row for Indian Creek, bringing their record for this year to 17-8. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for Newark, their win bumped their record up to 14-11.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Indian Creek has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 33.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Newark struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Indian Creek came up short against Newark in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 54-46. Can Indian Creek avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
