Baseball Recap: Orange Park Triumphs

Orange Park never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over the St. Augustine Yellow Jackets. The Raiders were shut out 10-0 the last time they took on the Yellow Jackets, so the Raiders were just returning the favor.

Yaziel Del Valle made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Orange Park's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 0-5 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Brian Allen was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

The victory made it two in a row for Orange Park and bumps their season record up to 4-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for St. Augustine, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5.

Coming up, Orange Park will host Duval Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for St. Augustine, they will venture away from home to challenge Lincoln at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
