Football Recap: Cairo Syrupmakers vs. Thomasville Bulldogs
Cairo was the 24-3 winner over Thomasville when they last played one another back in September of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Cairo Syrupmakers took a 35-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Thomasville Bulldogs on Friday.
Despite the loss, Cairo saw an underclassman step up: Bryian Duncan rushed for 168 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. Duncan was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 66 yards. Trevonne Cooper was in the mix too, providing Cairo with a fumble recovery touchdown touchdowns.
Lavonte Cole was a one-man wrecking crew for Thomasville as he rushed for 100 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Ant Anderson, who rushed for 140 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries.
Cairo's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Thomasville, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Both might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran up and down the field in their prior games.
