Baseball Recap: Montgomery Triumphs

Montgomery picked up another tournament win on Friday. They came out on top against the King Panthers by a score of 7-2.

Colton Collins looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, Landon Lutz and Bryce Miles did most of the damage at the plate: Lutz went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one triple, while Miles went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two hits gave Lutz a new career-high. Drake Cox also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Montgomery was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The win got Montgomery back to even at 2-2. As for King, their record now sits at 0-2.

Looking ahead, Montgomery will be taking part in a tournament against Grand Oaks at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for King, they will venture away from home to square off against Oak Ridge at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
