Basketball Recap: Waldron Comes Up Short

Waldron suffered their biggest loss since December 28, 2023 on Friday. They came up short against the Hauser Jets, falling 63-40. While losing is never fun, the Mohawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 290th, while the Jets are ranked 78th).

When it comes to explaining why Waldron lost, don't look at Lucas Shaw. Despite the final result, he went 8 for 13 en route to 20 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ethan Moody, who posted six points.

Even though they lost, Waldron smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Ledger Gelfius continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hauser, going 9 of 12 on his way to 23 points. That's the most points Gelfius has posted since back in February of 2024. Stryker Gill also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Waldron's record now sits at 7-7. As for Hauser, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.

Waldron didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-45 win against Bethesda Christian on the 25th. As for Hauser, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 60-21 victory against Rising Sun on the 25th.
