Preview: Midland Trail Patriots vs. Tucker County Mountain Lions
The Midland Trail Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Tucker County Mountain Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Midland Trail took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 51-6 victory over Pocahontas County. The win was just what Midland Trail needed coming off of a 63-14 loss in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, Tucker County put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Hampshire 64-7 at home. Tucker County pushed the score to 58-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Hampshire cut but never quite recovered from.
Tucker County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ethan Rosenau, who threw for 260 yards and five touchdowns while completing 77.3% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Jared Reall, who rushed for 153 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.6 yards per carry.
Their wins bumped Midland Trail to 5-5 and Tucker County to 10-0.
Midland Trail beat Tucker County 14-2 in their previous matchup back in November of 2018. The rematch might be a little tougher for Midland Trail since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
