Softball Game Preview: Isabella Mustangs vs. Maplesville Red Devils

Isabella is 1-9 against Maplesville since February of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Mustangs will host the Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. Isabella is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

On Friday, Isabella didn't have quite enough to beat Billingsley and fell 9-8.

Isabella got a big performance out of Natalie Smithermen, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Eliza Lovett was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Maplesville had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They never let the Mustangs get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. Considering the Red Devils have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Isabella now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Maplesville, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.
