Leuzinger hasn't had much luck against Palos Verdes recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Olympians will be playing in front of their home fans against the Sea Kings at 8:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Leuzinger will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Inglewood, who they had gone 0-5 against in their five prior meetings. The Olympians came out on top against the Sentinels by a score of 43-32 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Olympians.
Journee Tonga had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 154 yards and two scores on only 13 carries, while also picking up 58 receiving yards and one TD. His longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards. Russell Sekona was another key player, throwing for 256 yards and three touchdowns while completing 82.4% of his passes.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Leuzinger was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 271 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Palos Verdes against Culver City on Friday as the team secured a 48-7 win. The result was nothing new for the Sea Kings, who have now won four matchups by 24 points or more so far this season.
A big part of Palos Verdes' victory came down to the chemistry between Ryan Rakowski and his top target Morley Boyd. Rakowski threw for 304 yards and four TDs while completing 73.9% of his passes while Boyd picked up 200 receiving yards and a pair of scores. The dominant performance also gave Boyd a new career-high in receiving touchdowns (two).
Leuzinger's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Palos Verdes, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
Thursday's game might be decided on the ground. Leuzinger has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 149.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Palos Verdes struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 150.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Leuzinger came up short against Palos Verdes in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 21-14. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Rakowski, who threw for 153 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 58 yards. Now that the Olympians know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
