Edgewood has gone 8-2 against Pomona recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Red Devils at 3:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Edgewood is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Bassett a 21-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Tony Madriz made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Ricky Bocanegra and Omar Chavez did most of the damage at the plate: Bocanegra went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double, while Chavez went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Edgewood is 6-1 when Chavez posts two or more runs, but 3-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Guillermo Rodriguez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.
Edgewood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .641. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Pomona entered their tilt with La Puente on Wednesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Warriors 21-13. With that victory, the Red Devils brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.
Adrian Lopez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lopez was even better at the plate, getting on base in all six of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Edgewood now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Pomona, their win bumped their record up to 6-9-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Edgewood has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Pomona struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Edgewood's way against Pomona in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as Edgewood made off with an 11-0 victory. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
