Basketball Game Preview: Chino Valley Cougars vs. Highland Prep Honey Badgers

The Chino Valley Cougars will take on the Highland Prep Honey Badgers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chino Valley is looking for their season's first win.

Back in December of 2024, Chino Valley took a blow against Parker, falling 75-40. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 310th, while the Broncs are ranked 87th).

Meanwhile, after only 22 points in their last contest, Highland Prep made sure to put some points up on the board against Cactus on Saturday. Highland Prep narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Cactus 62-60.

Highland Prep is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points per game. As for Chino Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Chino Valley came up short against Highland Prep when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 49-41. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Highland Prep's Terrance Byrd, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten boards.
