Softball Recap: Notre Dame Takes Down Covington in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Notre Dame walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Covington Buccs on Wednesday. Considering the Titans have won 16 matches by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Notre Dame has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Covington, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 22-10 record.

Coming up, Notre Dame will take on Monroeville at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Titans surely won't give up without a fight. Covington does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
