Basketball Game Preview: Nottoway Cougars vs. Person Rockets

The Nottoway Cougars and the Person Rockets will round out the year against one another at at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Nottoway is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 59-38 margin over Lunenburg Central on Thursday. The win was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Nottoway to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anna Lee, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 19 boards. Lee is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Promise Tracy, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 steals.

Nottoway smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 17 offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Person didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Cedar Ridge on Friday, but they still walked away with a 30-25 victory.

Nottoway's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-3. As for Person, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
