Basketball Recap: Carly Haun's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Louisville over Douglas County West

Louisville fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Douglas County West on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 48-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Douglas County West Falcon. The Lions have struggled against the Falcon recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Louisville's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carly Haun, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 12 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Holly Haworth, who posted five points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Louisville was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matches.

Addison Strong was nothing short of spectacular for Douglas County West: she had 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals. Strong is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Grimm, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

Louisville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Douglas County West, their record is now 5-10.

Louisville will square off against Raymond Central at 6:00 p.m. on January 28th. Raymond Central will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Louisville surely won't give up without a fight. Douglas County West has already played their next game, a 62-40 win against Fillmore Central on the 24th.
