Volleyball Recap: Sunnyslope Vikings vs. Brophy College Prep Broncos
Sunnyslope lost against Brophy College Prep last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Vikings came up short against the Broncos, falling 3-0. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Sunnyslope was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-22, 25-16.
Tyler Stock paced Sunnyslope's offense, picking up 12 kills. Stock got some help from Mason Cooley and his 24 assists.
Brophy College Prep got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jude Keane out in front who had ten digs and two aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin Zimmerman, who had eight digs and one block.
Sunnyslope's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Brophy College Prep, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 22-9.
Looking ahead, Sunnyslope will be playing at home against Desert Vista at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings are facing the Thunder at the right time seeing as the Thunder are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Brophy College Prep, they have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Highland on the 14th.
