Baseball Recap: Millbrook Victorious

The matchup between Millbrook and Garner on Wednesday hardly resembled the 1-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Wildcats came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 14-11. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 1-0 win the Trojans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2020.

Millbrook got a great performance from Reece Kuhns as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 5.2 innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave Kuhns a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jack Strom, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Hayden Heath was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Millbrook and bumps their season record up to 15-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Garner, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Millbrook will venture away from home to square off against Knightdale at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Garner, they will head out to challenge Willow Spring at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans are facing the Storm at the right time seeing as the Storm are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
