Basketball Recap: Lake Norman Charter Knights vs. East Rowan Mustangs
After flying high against West Rowan last Wednesday, Lake Norman Charter came back down to earth. The Lake Norman Charter Knights took a 60-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the East Rowan Mustangs on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 72-56 back in January.
Despite the loss, Lake Norman Charter still got an impressive performance from Reece Long, who posted 26 points and eight rebounds. That was a full 50% of Lake Norman Charter's points, marking the third time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. Abby Courtney was another key player, putting up 13 points in addition to five boards and five steals.
Even though they lost, Lake Norman Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive matches.
Lake Norman Charter's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for East Rowan, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-4.
